We had just launched The Hedonist collection when I first heard from Stephanie and Tom, and within minutes of our first call…I knew I had just met two veritable hedonists who would allow me to truly bring this new collection to life. It was obvious right away, this was going to be a party with no end time. They had chosen Le Grand Banc for their wedding venue - an exclusive private hamlet in the Luberon which has long been a stomping ground for artists and royalty alike. Hello Princess Margo, and hello real Warhols on the wall.
With most of their guests traveling from the UK and worldwide, they wanted to send a Save the Date out well ahead of time to give their guests time to plan. We played around with a few variations of the embossed wording here, exploring alliterations (Love, Luberon, Libations, etc.), a mix of French and English words, (L’amour, champagne, et disco…) and some song lyrics (Love, love, love, love, crazy love)…before settling on this short and sweet vow pun that would put the emphasis on PARTY.
A few months ahead of the wedding, Stephanie - the Founder and Creative Director of the bold and spirited fashion brand Rat&Boa - began sending me red and pink color palette inspiration to share what they were thinking for the invitation. We explored dozens of color palette combinations, landing on a striking marriage of classic Letterist neutrals and bright pops of red and fuschia. The envelopes were custom-made using a hot pink shade of ultra smooth Plike that I had been saving in a drawer for almost a decade (!) waiting for the right party to come along.
The invitation suite was almost entirely from The Hedonist collection, although they made it their own by swapping out their names in the middle of the invite for the phrase “L’amour, champagne, et disco forever after,” and mixed things up by including an invitation from The Curator collection for the day after party on Sunday which also happened to be Stephanie’s birthday. Perfect for a little poolside glam.
The bold color palette and whimsical details carried through to the Day of Stationery which included foil stamped reception menus, a hand-lettered weekend itinerary and welcome notes, and a large format seating chart on linen from The Novelist collection. I love how free they were aesthetically - making unique design choices for each piece rather than feeling beholden to a singular identity and typographic style. I always tell clients - these pieces, if you’re choosing to invest in them, exist to delight and surprise, not to show off how many ways we can print the same logo or initials.
…Of course it all ended up in VOGUE. See more dress, guest and party pics in the Vogue feature here.
